The theme for November was ‘grandparents’. The children studied what it was like to be a child ‘long ago’. We compared food, school life, Christmas, toys, technology, transport, games, clothes and even teachers.
We celebrated grandparents by having afternoon tea with some grandparents. Thomas’ grandmother made a beautiful power point presentation for us. Grandparents from Poland, France, Spain, England and all over Ireland wrote us letters and sent us photographs.
The shock of no electricity long ago will be settling in the children’s heads for some time to come.
