Science Week 2023

We had great fun celebrating Science Week this year. Science is just one of our favourite subjects and we love taking part in STEM activities. Our school is going forward for A Curious Minds Ireland Award with SFI. The Curious Minds Award gives our school the chance to develop our STEM (Science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) learning and engagement and receive the recognition for doing so. We all know children love hands-on experiences in Science so engaging with this award will be a fun and effect way of recording and recognising all our efforts. With the help of our Student Council all materials were delivered to each classroom and the whole school engaged in different experiments and investigations. 6th class enjoyed Design and Make activities and launched foam rockets in the school hall. This included lots of science, maths and engineering. 3rd class made their own set of teeth using putty. 1st class made paper helicopters and investigated the the force of gravity. Junior Infants played pass the parcel and explored different materials and textures. A very successful Science Week here in METNS. Stay tuned for more Science updates!
