This week First Class learned about the life-cycle of the Butterfly. We were very lucky as we got to see the life-cycle with our own two eyes in our classroom. For the month of June we looked after our caterpillars. We saw them form a layer called the chrysalis and then they shed this and beautiful butterflies fluttered out. We fed them sugar and water and apples and placed lovely flowers in their home. Then we went to the field last Wednesday and we were able to release our beautiful butterflies. We got to hold them and we named them after our teachers Karen, Amie, Tara, Jack and Mark. Karen took flight first and set off to explore the world. Tara took her time to fly off. It was amazing to see this and experience it. We all waved goodbye to them as they set off on an adventure. We will remember this moment forever.
