Junior Infants have had a very busy first term at school. They have made lots of new friends and have learned so much already. Some of the highlights from ‘Term One’ was Science week where many parents and family members came in to school to see the Juniors carrying out interesting science experiments.
They have also spent much time exploring nature, focusing on seasonal change and different weather patterns. The children had so much fun dressing up for Halloween, check out some of the photos.
All of the Junior infant classes are very lucky to have the learning support teacher team visit their class every day and help with fine motor and writing skills. They have also begun sorting objects into sets for maths.
The children are fast beginning to read and write and their teachers are very proud of all of their hard work.
MĂșinteoir Diane’s Junior Infants finished off the turning of the seasons by making Autumn hedgehogs using clay and matchsticks. As the weather got colder, we began learning about Winter. We have learned loads about animals that live in snowy places like snowy owls, caribou and arctic foxes & hares. We also learned about animals hibernating and enjoyed the story ‘Two Hungry Bears’. We practised loads for our Winter show in December and all of our families enjoyed our songs and poems including ‘I’m a Friendly Snowman’, ‘Walking in a Winter Wonderland’ and ‘Let it Snow’.
