Múinteoir Diane’s Junior Infants were very luckily chosen as one of only six classes in Cork to take part in University College Cork’s ‘Teddy Bear Hospital’ event on Monday April 11th. The children brought their teddy bears by bus to the UCC Brookfield Health Sciences Complex on College Road where medicine students were on hand to examine and tend to teddies lumps, bumps, scratches, bruises and pains! The aim of the Teddy Bear Hospital is to introduce children to doctors and healthcare in a friendly environment so that they will be more at ease when visiting the doctor in the future. This positive exposure to healthcare helps to build a strong doctor-patient relationship and gives all of the children involved a fun morning out. The class are also covering the theme of the doctor/hospital in Aistear this month so it was a fantastic way to further learning in this topic.
