4th Class Celebrate Tet!

Fourth class recently took part in a special celebration to explore and discover the traditional Vietnamese festival of Tet. Tet marks the beginning of the Vietnamese New Year and is celebrated in line with the Chinese New Year. However, we researched and were introduced to the unique traditions of the Vietnamese with the help and terrific enthusiasm of Laurie Sjostrom.  The children adopted traditional rituals by writing individual messages for each class in the school sending positive wishes for the coming year and also created decorative flowers to accompany the messages. These messages were delivered with great ceremony using a wonderfully decorative dragon created solely by Laurie Sjostrom. This parade featured dragon dancers escorted by flame wavers, greeters and a band of percussionists. The entire celebration had a highly anticipated conclusion with the children opening their personalised messages which brought great excitement and surprise.
