4th Class – Internet Safety Day

Tuesday 7 February was Internet Safety Day and fourth class spent some time engaging in various activities to become more aware of safe internet use. As the majority of fourth class children regularly spend time online, it is becoming more obvious that an awareness of potential dangers needs to be addressed more often. We were lucky to have a representative from Zeeko visit both fourth classes recently to present the children with information that was both useful and easy to understand. The children participated with knowledge and enthusiasm during the visit, sharing experiences and highlighting problems with online activity.

The internet is a wonderful resource and offers tremendous educational opportunities for children. However, according to Zeeko, the advent of smartphones has made the monitoring of children’s online activity more difficult and resulted in the use of unsuitable and inappropriate social media based apps by children of the fourth class age category. They provide a wealth of valuable information and advice for children, educators and parents alike. I have attached the link to their fantastic website below. Múinteoir Alan.
