Mid Term for Junior Infants

September and October have brought lots of fun and challenges for junior infants – longer days in school, moving into a more structured environment and being part of a class with 24 other students. They have adapted really well and had lots of enjoyment along the way.

We have had a pyjama party, assemblies with the the older classes, stations for Ready Set Go Maths is underway, and they have lots of opportunities for dancing and drama. Aistear (learning through play) takes place every morning where the children learn about the various themes and values of the month. October’s focus was our value Respect, The Farm, Halloween, and Autumn. The children explored these topics through sensory play, drama corner, small world, circle time and art and construction.

We also took the opportunity to plant some bulbs and seeds – some in the classroom (so growth could be observed) and some outside which will hopefully bloom in the Spring.
