With being faced with the cold month of January we decided to keep warm in Junior Infants by learning all about Africa!! We kept warm by dancing to “This is Africa” by Shakira. We learned about animals in Africa including the elephant, rhino, lion, snake and giraffe.
This theme tied in nicely with our learning about the word “Freedom”. We looked at how animals live in the wild versus captivity. The children were very insightful and came up with wonderful ideas and discussions around the topic. They expressed themselves through Art – creating scenes of animals in captivity and animals in the wild.
