Our Yellow Flag flies with pride in our school representing interculturalism, equality and diversity thus promoting our multi culturalism throughout the whole-school. We were the first school in Cork to receive this award in 2013. To keep this positivity towards equality alive we celebrate all cultures and religions. On Monday 26th January METNS celebrated World Religion Day. Classes studied the variety of belief systems – focusing on the main world religions and religious symbols. Art, multi faith quizzes and guest speakers were some of the activities happening around the school on this day.
Our Yellow flag diversity committee devised a diversity code in conjunction with the awarding of the flag. The committee will be around the school promoting our unique code next week! Here’s a reminder of our code!
“Together”
We are all united under the sun,
We are loyal to everyone,
Like sister and brother
We do not exclude each other.
We all play together, whatever the weather,
We should all have pride, it’ll show your best side,
All around you different faces, different people from different places,
Different colour shape and size, accepting difference now that is wise,
We are all friends in this school,
That is why we are cool,
You are different, I am too,
But we are equal, me and you.
