To celebrate World Book Day and the gift of reading, 3rd class brought this wonderful “gift” into 1st class today.
The 3rd children have spent the last 3 weeks becoming confident story tellers by practising reading in pairs a range of new books, purchased from funds raised at last year’s book fair.
Today they had the chance to put this practise into action by reading to very enthusiastic children in 1st class. The older children loved having the opportunity to share these wonderful books and the 1st class children loved the novelty of being read to in small groups and exploring the illustrations up close.
Hannah (1st class) said ” You can just sit back and relax” whilst Faye (1st class) commented, ” The 3rd class kids are helping us how to read properly”. Malika (3rd class) felt it was both ” fun and enjoyable” and can’t wait to try it again !
