Junior Infants

Junior Infants is always a busy year in the lives of our some of our youngest pupils but even more so this first term with all the new safety and hygiene measures in place. However with all this going on it can be easily said that our junior infants are definitely one of the happiest we have ever had. They have shown immense resilience in accepting their new normal and have settled in so well making new friends in a new environment.

They have been so busy with developing their fine motor skills including cutting, writing, colouring and painting. They have made a whole new set of friends who they are excited to see each day and play out on yard with. Safety and hygiene has been a priority including learning the importance of being safe when travelling to school – we all received high vis vests which will help keeping everyone safe during the dark winter mornings and evenings.

Lots of fun was had preparing for Halloween, pumpkins were carved and costumes worn. We even managed to squeeze in a couple of picnics and a pyjama party.

Learning through play is our focus in junior infants, this helps the children develop their social and educational skills in a fun and meaningful way. So far it has been a busy but very happy first term in Junior Infants at METNS and we have lots more planned!!
