Settling into 1st Class (Alan)

September has been a very busy time in 1st Class.  The children adjusted wonderfully to the longer school day as the weeks went by and are now more settled and comfortable in their new surroundings. At the beginning of the month, we set about creating our ‘Class Charter’. This helped our class establish an agreed guide of expectations to help maintain a classroom environment built on responsibility, equality and happiness.

As the children have become familiar to life in 1st class, we have engaged in many new activities and they have especially enjoyed PE and Art lessons. One of our favourite Art lessons to date involved the exploration of tints and tones to change a single paint colour into many different shades.

We have also been fortunate enough to have children from 6th class joining us and assisting with small sized reading groups. These reading groups have given the children the chance to read a range of books and engage with the 6th class children to develop comprehension skills and reading fluency.
